A lifetime in songs: appendix

For those interested in the way I made my list, I’ve put this together to be helpful. First, I looked back at the albums of the year lists from that year to make sure I had my years right in most cases.

Second, I listed all the songs that meant something to me for each year, and from that list and given the restrictions I had place on myself, I chose the songs featured in the 50ish song playlist as those most meaningful to me.

I created all this in a spreadsheet of course—content strategist and all that. Now, I’ve found a way to import the full list of songs considered to Spotify. Some songs simply were not available, so I chose representative other songs by the artist in those cases. I think there were maybe 10 of these in all (out of approximately 650 total songs).
