Music from the last 25 years you may have missed

Black Country, New Road

Spin recently published an article: 35 Great Songs You Probably Didn’t Hear In The Last 35 Years. The article highlights great songs that may have flown under readers’ radar in the last 35 years, since Spin first began publishing. It’s a great list, and I had only heard of about five of the artists they highlighted, and only have one of them in my actual music library, though I do plan to use this list as a guide to acquire some of their featured artists.

Since I’m never one to walk away from a good music list, it got me to thinking—what are some of the songs that I like a lot that a lot of people who occasionally frequent these musings may have missed. Never one to walk away from a challenge, I began putting together my own list. In my case, I limited it to 25 years (roughly the amount of time that I’ve been publishing things on the Internet at one place or another (give or take a year).

I kept the 35 entries though because I find limiting these things really hard. (The list started at 68 songs, so it would have taken an act of congress for me to cut any more.) Also, since the Spin list included The Most Serene Republic, I started there with a different song.

TL;DR: Here’s a Spotify playlist sorted by artist.
