It has a reputation of being a bit of audio snake oil peddled by Neil Young when he was first beginning to get really cranky, a character trait that has since grown because *gestures broadly at everything*. But 10 years one, the driving factor behind the development of Pono has only gotten worse when our ears and environment are right.
Simply put, Pono wasn’t a money-making scheme — it was a money pit.
There’s a reason It was later awarded Stereophile’s Digital Component Of The Year award. It did just sound better, and after years of listening to usic getting less and less full as the algorithm’s compress out music more and more, we own Mr. Young an apology. The newly reborn vinyl lover in search of fuller and better sound all the time just was not ready for it it.
