So, today was Inauguration Day. Donald Trump took the reins as president of the United States again today, Inauguration Day. I’m am full of emotions: disbelief that we came to this points, disgust at our perceptions throughout the world, disdain for the current office holders (in every brand of the government, and fear for those who don’t look like me).
I grew up in the 70s. There was decent and good man serving as the president, despite the world swirling violently about him. He was a many of peace. I wasn’t perfect then by any means. I mean we’ve come far on many fronts: many forms of outright racism and other types of discrimination, technology as a leveling force, and green alternatives to fossile fuels, etc. I can’t feel help but believe that a lot of this is at risk now.
Actual knowledge is spat upon and ignored.
Empathy is dead.
Racism and misogyny reign.
At is core is pure selfishness, greed, and fear of the other.
It’s all Reagan’s fault. Symbolized of course by his removal the solar panels from the White House and working with our enemies the Iranians to free the hostages after he had won. Lust for power over all and behold to the corporate special interest.
All this is back in full effect. Oligarchs are no longer worried about showing their fascist stripes in full view. Sieg Heil il Douche.
